Ex-Machachari actress Clara Wamaitha alias ‘Mama Stella’ or ‘Cindy’ has confessed to visiting witch doctors in order to find a cure for her vitiligo skin condition.

Vitiligo is a long-term skin condition characterized by patches of the skin losing their pigment when pigment-producing cells die.

Cindy, who spoke to Bonga and Jalas says her mother’s efforts to seek medication for her skin condition led her to visit several medicine-men and that only left her drunk.

She says she has dealt with vitiligo since her childhood and at nine years old after visiting one witch doctor she was advised to take ‘strong tea’ and alcohol.

“Again she took me to another witch doctor who was giving kids whisky at that early age. My mother was told to buy alcohol and mix it with strong tea leaves. For three months, I never stepped to school since I was totally drunk,” she said.

Cindy received help from Vitiligo ambassador Wangui Njee offering the needed skincare products including sunscreen and aftersun.

Wangui also added that those products are offered free of charge in hospitals for people dealing with vitiligo skin conditions.
