In less than 24 hours after initiating a fundraising drive, veteran comedian – cum philanthropist Eric Omondi has managed to raise Ksh1 million for the family of a boy seen in a viral video crying after failing to report back to school due to lack of school fees.

Taking to his Instagram account on the night of Thursday, October 10, 2024, Omondi updated his fans on the progress of the fundraising drive disclosing that he has been able to raise a huge sum of money under his team Sisi Kwa Sisi’s fundraising platform.

He went on to say that he had sent the boy back to school, settled fees arrears and paid for his entire high school fees using the funds.

Additionally, the philanthropist directed his fans to channel their contribution to the boy’s father’s mobile number since his mum’s mobile money account can not accept more funds.

He further revealed his plans to change their lives by buying them a piece of land and starting a business for them.

Hours after Omondi managed to link up with the boy and saw the sorrowful state of the boy’s family, he initiated a fundraiser through his popular fundraising platform.

The vocal philanthropist vowed to take the boy back to school and help improve the living standards of the family.

Omondi went on to narrate that he had found out that the family of the boy was living like squatters after they fell victim to the demolitions that were witnessed in Nairobi between April 2024, and June 2024, as a result of floods that had been caused by heavy downpours.
