Eric Omondi launches nationwide university tour to rally Gen Zs into voting
By Steve Ireri, October 3, 2025Comedian turned activist Eric Omondi has officially launched a countrywide campaign targeting universities in a bid to ensure that Gen Zs are registered as voters ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The initiative, which kicked off on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Pwani University in Kilifi County, seeks to traverse learning institutions across the nation with a central mission of mobilising young people to secure their place in decision-making and leadership processes.
Eric, in a post on X, noted that the campaign is designed to awaken the political consciousness of Gen Zs by emphasising that registering as voters is the first step towards shaping governance.
“Officially launched my Campaign to go around all the Universities to ensure all Gen Zs are registered voters. We started today at Pwani University in Kilifi County,” he wrote.
This comes after former nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba criticised the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for neglecting to prioritise Gen Z in its ongoing voter registration campaign.
The Pwani University launch drew enthusiastic students who interacted with the comedian as he underscored the need for young people to rise above social media activism and take charge of their future through the ballot.
During the occasion, he noted that Kenya’s youthful population holds the power to change the nation’s trajectory if they channel their numbers into active civic participation.
“We will traverse the Nation to ensure all young people register and have a say in leadership and decision-making,” he added.

New beginning
The university tour comes just days after Eric declared that Kenya is on the verge of a new beginning, urging young people to prepare for a generational shift through voter registration.
In a message on Instagram on October 1, 2025, Omondi said Kenya will experience what he termed a rebirth, calling upon citizens from all walks of life, and particularly the youth, to register in large numbers as voters.

He emphasised that the nation is fast approaching a moment of change, one that would usher in a new Kenya shaped by the power of its younger generation.
“Kenya will experience a NEW BEGINNING, a Re-Birth. I am calling upon Kenyans from all walks, especially the young people, to register in large numbers as voters,” he wrote.
He noted that the future belongs to the youth and cautioned against complacency, stressing that failing to register as voters would deny them the opportunity to influence leadership and decision-making at a crucial turning point in the country’s history.
According to him, God Himself would guide the process of transformation, ensuring that the generational change would not be stopped.
“Our time is fast approaching. There will be a generational change. There will be a NEW KENYA. We must not be caught off guard. God Himself will give us this,” he added.
