Diana Chepkemoi, who was stranded in Saudi Arabia, now commands a huge following on TikTok where she regularly posts inspirational videos.
The 24-year-old Chepkemoi caught the attention of Kenyans after her photos went viral – she was looking so emaciated after enduring cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment in Saudi Arabia.
Her family appealed for assistance from the government to bring her back home and Kenyans also took to social media to demand her return.
When she landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on the afternoon of September 6, 2022, Diana painfully narrated how she was mistreated by her former boss in Saudi Arabia.
Diana secured a job and a chance to continue with her studies just hours after arriving in the country from Saudi Arabia.
The 24-year-old, who had deferred her studies at Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) due to financial constraints, enrolled back in the institution after her return.
Meru university’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Romanus Odhiambo allowed Diana back at the facility and also offered her a job and accommodation to facilitate her learning.
