By Valerian Khakayi, August 23, 2025Comedienne and digital content creator Millicent Ayuwa, widely known as Dem Wa Facebook, has congratulated Harambee Stars’ players for their spirited performance at the ongoing 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) but urged leaders to go beyond celebrations and focus on the team’s welfare.
In a congratulatory message shared on her official Instagram account on Friday night, August 22, 2025, she called for the implementation of policies to ensure players earn a steady income.
In addition, the content creator praised the national team for making the country proud but cautioned that motivation should not end with the tournament.
“Congratulations Harambe Stars….. Motivation isiishie Hapa jamani. Now let’s implement policies that will ensure players make a steady income throughout sio kwa tournaments tu,” she said.

Appeal to Ruto
In addition, Dem Wa Facebook appealed to President William Ruto to fulfil the promise of gifting the national team players affordable houses and money for reaching the quarterfinals, saying the team had tried their best.
She added that the support should not be limited to one tournament, urging the president to sit down with football officials to ensure players consistently receive financial support.
Furthermore, the comedian noted that such measures would help sustain the morale the team had shown and further strengthen Kenya’s football revival.
Harambee Stars’ exit
The national team bowed out of the 2024 CHAN after a tense quarterfinal match against Madagascar at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
The match ended 1-1 in regulation and extra time, forcing a dramatic penalty shootout, which the Malagasy team won 4-3.

Harambee Stars started the game strongly, dominating midfield play and creating several scoring opportunities. Boniface Muchiri, Suleiman Manzur Okwaro, Ben Stanley Omondi, and Ryan Ogam linked up with neat passing combinations in the first half but were repeatedly blocked by Madagascar’s organised backline.
Kenya missed two spot kicks through Mike Kibwage and Omija as the islanders progressed to the semis in their third tournament. Madagascar’s goalkeeper Michel Ramandimbisoa was instrumental, saving crucial spot-kicks and ensuring his team’s passage to the semifinals.
