Actress Jacky Vicke, alias Awinja, has revealed that she knew that her father had died way before the news was broken to her, all thanks to her intuition.

Speaking during an interview with Dr Ofweneke on Thursday, October 9, 2025, she explained that it happened during a term when all her school fees had been cleared.

She recalled that despite that, her teacher called her and asked her to go home, saying there was a mistake and that her school fees had not been cleared.

“My dad died while I was still in high school, and I got the news through my spirit. Trust me, this spirit thing works because no one had told me about my dad’s passing. It was the end of term, all my fees had been cleared, and it was on a Saturday when I was called to the school office. I thought my dad was coming to visit that weekend,” she narrated.

Feeling an inexplicable pull, she packed her belongings and left the school crying, guided by a gut feeling that something was amiss.

Upon arriving, she found her cousin and friend in tears, and it was then that she realised her father had passed away, noting that she got all the messages by reading their tears.

“When I got there, I found our chemistry teacher, who told me I had to go home because I had a fee balance. I knew there was no balance, but the teacher insisted I had to leave. I went back to the dorm, started crying, packed my stuff, and left the school, not fully knowing why I was going home. People at school already knew that my dad had died, but no one had told me directly,” Awinja shared.

She described the experience as a confirmation of the power of intuition, saying that no one had informed her, yet her spirit had led her straight to the truth.

Reflecting on the episode, Awinja also said it was a formative moment that shaped her understanding of loss and the unseen forces that guide life, showing her that sometimes, actions speak louder than words, and that intuition can reveal truths before they are told.

“At the time, we did not have boda bodas, so I used a bicycle to get home. When I arrived, I found my cousin and my friend crying, and that is when I realised my father had passed. I got all the messages by reading the crying around me.”
