Alex Mwakideu reacts after Flaqo explains why he repossessed car gifted to ex-Keranta
By Paulette Mboga, August 12, 2025Radio host Alex Mwakideu has shared his thoughts on the ongoing debate surrounding content creator Flaqo’s decision to repossess a car he had gifted to his former girlfriend, Keranta Chege.
Mwakideu’s comments came shortly after Flaqo publicly explained why he took back the vehicle following their breakup.
During a morning radio show conversation on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, Mwakideu reflected on the sensitive nature of reclaiming gifts after relationships end.
“Flaqo akasema hajamnyanganya, sikumnyanganya, lilikua kwa jina langu. Ndio nikajiuliza, how far is too far? What are you supposed to take back? Wakati ambapo mahusiano yana sambaratika? Fridge, carpet, laptop, anachukua. Maanake kuna wanaume wengine naskia wanachukua hadi simu,” he remarked.
Legal Ownership
Mwashumbe, also weighed in, highlighting the legal aspect of car ownership in Kenya. “There are processes to possess a car in this country. If the logbook was written by Flaqo, then the car belongs to Flaqo. Alichukua tu gari lake,” he said.

Flaqo had earlier addressed the issue in an interview with Oga Obinna on Monday night, August 11, 2025. He explained that the Nissan Note, worth Ksh650,000, remained registered under his name and was initially a convenient gift to his girlfriend, not his ex.
“Ile gari ilikuwa kwa jina yangu, and there was no way I could leave the car behind. The car was a convenient gift to my girlfriend; there is no ex there, one’s ex appears its X,” he said.
Flaqo added that he retrieved the car to avoid unnecessary drama after the relationship ended.
The gifting had taken place on October 3, 2024, during Keranta’s 22nd birthday celebration. Flaqo had surprised her with the car during a picnic date before leading her to a closed gate, where the vehicle had been parked. The moment, captured on video and shared on social media, was widely celebrated by fans at the time.
The recent revelations have sparked an online debate about whether gifts given in relationships should be reclaimed when couples part ways. Supporters of Flaqo’s decision cite the legal right tied to ownership documents, while critics question the ethics of taking back a significant present once it has been given.
