Actress Jackie Matubia moved to tears by brother’s tribute to their late dad

In a statement on her Instagram stories on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, Matubia shared that the past two days have been some of her hardest since her father’s passing, admitting she has struggled to carry out her daily routines, including caring for her children.
“Grief is something else; these past two days, I’ve barely been able to wake up to work, to even be present for my kids. It’s like my whole body just shut down,” she wrote.
The actress explained that her brother’s decision to post a video of their late father triggered overwhelming emotions, leaving her “a wreck”.
Furthermore, she shed light on an often unspoken side of grief: how it can leave one numb rather than outwardly emotional.
“People don’t talk enough about this side of grief, how it doesn’t always look like crying every day; sometimes it just numbs you completely. You sit there staring, unable to do anything, feeling like you’re frozen in time. That’s where I’ve been,” she said.
Despite the pain, Matubia expressed her determination to keep going, noting that healing is a slow process.
“I keep reminding myself one day at a time, one breath at a time. I’m still here, still standing, still breathing,” she concluded.
Her father’s demise
The actress broke the news of her father’s passing in a sudden Instagram post on Monday, June 9, 2025, where she poured out her sorrow, lamenting how painfully untimely his departure had been.
The actress also poured out her anguish, saying she found herself wondering why the heavens had been so quick to take away a parent she held so close to her heart.
“Heaven surely could not wait for you, my father,” Matubia posted, accompanying the words with heartbroken emojis that bled with emotion.
Furthermore, she posted a photo of a candle, hauntingly lit halfway, prompting fans to shower her with comforting messages.
