Actor Bilal Wanjau dies

The Kenyan film and theatre industry is mourning the loss of actor Bilal Wanjau.

According to actress Sandra Dacha, who shared the news, Wanjau passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025, while receiving treatment at a Nairobi hospital due to diabetes-related complications.

“It is with profound sorrow that I announce the untimely passing of my colleague Bilal Wanjau this early morning due to Diabetes complications,” Sandra announced.

Sandra expressed deep sorrow while announcing his death, noting that the industry has lost one of the best in the Kenyan film industry.

“Bilal was a GREAT TALENTED ACTOR! We have lost one of the BEST in the industry,” she stated.

She further disclosed that burial arrangements have already been set and that Wanjau will be laid to rest on Friday, December 5, 2025, at his rural home in Machakos.

“Burial date is set for Friday (tomorrow), 5/12/2025, at his rural home in Machakos. Kindly keep the family in your prayers,” she said.

“May God rest his soul in eternal peace.”

Bilal’s acting career

Bilal Wanjau enjoyed a vibrant acting career, appearing in several popular Kenyan drama shows. He was widely known for his roles in productions such as Tahidi High, where his performances left a lasting impression on viewers.

Over the years, he featured in multiple local TV dramas and films, including Bazenga, The Runaway, and Wimped. He also starred in Lies That Bind and the prison drama Jela 5 Star.

Bilal also played a memorable prison guard named Kasoro Bin Kasoro, earning respect for his versatility, professionalism, and strong on-screen presence.
