AAR Hospital responds to claims it delayed admitting Betty Bayo over Ksh260K deposit
By Steve Ireri, November 13, 2025AAR Hospital has responded to social media backlash following reports that late gospel singer Betty Bayo was denied admission at its Kiambu Road facility due to her inability to immediately pay a Ksh260,000 deposit.
In a statement released on Wednesday, November 13, 2025, the hospital clarified that Betty Bayo had been admitted to their Kiambu Road facility for two days, during which doctors provided emergency and critical care and confirmed her diagnosis.

“AAR Hospital wishes to clarify that the deceased was admitted to our facility for two days, during which she received emergency and critical care and her diagnosis was confirmed,” the hospital statement read in part.
The hospital emphasised that after initial stabilisation, the patient and her family opted to transfer her to another medical facility for further specialised treatment.
AAR Hospital noted that many of the circulating claims were inaccurate and misleading and reassured the public of its commitment to the highest standards of patient care, professionalism, and transparency.
“After her initial stabilization and medical assessment, the patient and her family later opted to transfer her to another medical facility for further specialized treatment. Out of respect for the patient’s confidentiality and in line with medical ethics, we are unable to share personal or clinical details,” AAR wrote.

Shiru Wa GP’s statement
The AAR statement came just a day after gospel singer Shiru wa GP, who is part of Betty Bayo’s burial committee, revealed that she had been taken to the hospital’s Kiambu Road facility at night.
Shiru disclosed that she could not be admitted immediately because she did not have the Ksh260,000 deposit, and that the intervention of a family member was required to facilitate her admission.
“That night, a neighbour took her to AAR Hospital, and I was not immediately aware because my house help usually keeps me informed. When Betty arrived at AAR Hospital late at night, she could not be admitted because she did not have the money for the deposit. I then called Jane, who intervened and ensured the Ksh260,000 was paid so she could be admitted,” Shiru said during day 2 of Betty’s burial meeting.
Untimely demise
Betty, the renowned hitmaker behind Busy Busy, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, at exactly 1:03 pm at Kenyatta National Hospital’s private wing.
She had been battling acute leukaemia and excessive bleeding that worsened over the weekend.

Betty was initially admitted to AAR Hospital, where doctors began emergency treatment, before being transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital on Friday, November 7, 2025, after her condition deteriorated.
Despite efforts to stabilise her, her body eventually gave in.
Her family, in a statement on the same day, revealed that they had accepted the outcome as the will of God.
They then approved that her body be moved to Kenyatta University Referral Mortuary until final funeral arrangements are completed.
