Former radio host Joyce Gituro lands new job with Machakos County Govt

Former radio host Joyce Gituro has been sworn in as Chief Officer of Public Communications and E-government, in Machakos County.

Gituro was sworn into the position on Monday, July 1, 2024, following her appointment by Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti.

In a statement after the swearing in ceremony, Gituro thanked the governor for appointing her to the position, as well as the immediate support from family and friends.

“I have so much to say about this appointment but for now allow me to thank the Almighty God for His mercies that are new every morning, Hon Wavinya Ndeti for believing in me, my dear daughter and two sons for loving me always, my immediate and extended family members for being there and for ALL my friends for being very very patient with me. Indeed let the Lord lead the way to my new territory,” Gituro said.

Gituro was sworn in alongside other appointed including Francis Munyambu (Inspectorate and emergency services) and Juliana Ndunge (Sewerage, Sanitation and waste management).

“I have today witnessed the swearing in into office three chief officers following their vetting and approval by the County Assembly of Machakos. The officers are: Francis Munyambu – Department of Inspectorate and Emergency Services, Joyce Gituro – Department of Public Communications and E-government, Dr Juliana Ndunge – Department of Sewerage, Sanitation and Waste Management,” Governor Ndeti said.

“I take opportunity to wish them the very best, God’s guidance and wisdom as they serve the great people of Machakos County in fulfilling our Clarion call Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni.”

Gituro’s previous job

Gituro previously worked at Royal Media Services-owned radio station “Citizen”  for over 15 years.

She started as a radio host before being promoted to become a transmission controller at Radio Citizen and later on Brand Manager.

She later left Royal Media Services before joining Mediamax Networks Limited as the Head of Radio between 2018 and 2019.

In 2020, she joined Radio Jambo where she hosted the Sunday show ‘Injili Jumapili’ (Gospel Sunday).
