Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji has recommended that rally driver Maxine Wahome be charged with murder over the death of her lover Assad Khan.

The new twist in the matter emerged before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi on Tuesday, March 6 after State Prosecutor James Gachoka informed the court that his boss Haji has okayed the prosecution of Wahome over the death of Khan.

“I ask the court to detain Maxine Wahome at Kilimani police station to undergo a mental examination pending the murder charges tomorrow, ” Prosecutor Gachoka informed the Court.

The court heard that the DPP reviewed the file and he is satisfied that there is evidence to support the murder charge against Wahome.

The court allowed the DPP’s request to have Wahome detained in police custody to enable her to undergo a mental assessment before she can answer the murder charges before the High Court.

The DPP move to recommend the Prosecution of Wahome with murder comes two weeks after Magistrate Ochoi declined to close the investigations file following an objection by Khan family.
