Tanzania star Naseeb Abdul Juma, popularly known by his stage name Diamond Platnumz is taking fans years back with his new music.
The two releases dubbed ‘Yatapita’ and ‘Zuwena‘ trending in first and second places respectively bring out the old school Diamond’s musicality that shines in his presentation of narration with a touch of emotional appeal.
Yatapita and Zuwena are nostalgic in the sense that they could easily be mistaken for his old soundtracks like ‘Lala Salama’, ‘Nitarejea’ and ‘Kamwambie’ among others.
The latest givings paint a vivid picture that Diamond Platinumz hasn’t forgotten his roots, paying homage to the style that granted him entrance to the Bongo industry.
‘Yatapita’ for instance became an instant hit on TikTok and although the song’s fame on social media has garnered him millions of new listeners, it could also signify the beginning of a new era for both Diamond and the music of Gen Z.
The 5-minute song is also reminiscent of classic love stories that draw inspiration from someone’s pivotal experiences as a struggling man prior to his rise to financial stability, heavily embracing the ethereal state of being young, broke and in love.
While his songs do not stray from this theme often and the lyrics are repetitive at times, his talent is undeniably evident within these new songs.
It gives out his hopeful passionate yet carefree personality on full display while presenting choruses to sing (or scream) along to your lover or in the midst of a long road trip.
In these hard and unstable economic times, Diamond Platinumz’s new tracks have proven themselves to be representative of the ebbs and flows of a present-day relationship.
“Yatapita” released on January 25 has over 5 million views while Zuwena is currently at 1.6 million hours after its release.
