President William Ruto has joined Kenyans in mourning former Education CS George Magoha, following his death on Tuesday, January 24 at the age of 71.

Ruto expressed his condolences in a statement terming Magoha as a ‘towering giant’ of our time.

“I have learnt with great sorrow about the passing of Prof. George Magoha, EGH. Magoha is a towering giant of our time, a great man who stood tall in the academy, where he excelled in learning, teaching and research, as well as in administration, where he led robust turnaround interventions at the University of Nairobi and the Kenya National Examinations Council,” his statement reads in parts.

Ruto regretted that Kenya has lost a gifted, unique, and distinguished servant.

“I join Kenyans and people from other parts of the world in mourning the passing of Prof. Magoha. I also send condolences to his family and pray that Almighty God grants them divine comfort and grace in this moment of grief.”

On his part, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka termed Magoha as an exceptional leader who will be greatly missed.

“The news of the untimely passing of Prof. George Magoha has left all of us in shock. He epitomised the necessity of focus, hard work and diligence. He was an exceptional leader who will be greatly missed. I send my sincere condolences to Prof Magoha’s family, friends & colleagues,” he wrote.

Magoha died on Tuesday, January 24 after suffering a cardiac arrest at home.
