Vernacular singer Ben Githae has been offered a job at the office of the President moments after declaring that he had ditched Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance.

While addressing mourners on Monday, January 23, 2023, in Gatundu during the burial of Pauline Nyokabi the elder sister to Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Investments, Trade and Industry Moses Kuria, Githae announced he was now supporting the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Saa tumerudi. Ata hao akina Sir James na akina Kegia wote si walikua huko lakini sa tunasema ulienda Nyanza ukasema ati 99 per cent hawakukupea ati njooni tusemezane and in your
house there are any mansions. Sisi ni 20 per cent ndo hatukukupea hio itakushinda tu sisi tusemezane? Wacha tukuje na sisi pia tusemezane
,” Ben Githae said.

He further told mourners that he skipped Azimio’s Kamkunji rally because he had changed sides and that he was now fully supporting the government.

Wengine Wamuratha akaniuliza kwani hukuenda maandamano? Mimi nko hapa sahi huko nilihama sasa nko hapa,” Githae said.

Githae further asked Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to convene a meeting with all musicians from Mt Kenya who didn’t support Kenya Kwanza during the campaign period.

Riggy G si uliiita maMP wote wa Jubilee? Ata wasanii wake wale tulikua tumekuhama ata sisi tuite tuko na mambo mazuri ya mulima sasa hakuna wakati mwingine ambao mulima tutagawana, tutaenda pande moja sote,” Githae said.

Gachagua lashes out at musicians

Speaking at the same event, Gachagua claimed that all Mt Kenya musicians save for Ngaruiya Junior and Muigai wa Njoroge ‘abandoned’ Kenya Kwanza for Azimio.

“When things were very difficult, all musicians gospel and secular in this region they abandoned us for money. But this young man (Ngaruiya Junior) and Muigai Njoroge stood for what they believe in,” Gachagua said.

The DP further slammed Ben Githae claiming that the musician lied to the ‘old man’ that he was winning over the hearts of voters in Mt Kenya when he wasn’t.

He added that President William Ruto rewarded Ngaruiya Junior with a job in the office of the President for his loyalty.

And I would like to correct you, usiombe huyu kijana kazi, wee umechelewa, wee huna network. You know ukiwa huko hujui what is going on. Huyu Ngaruiya Junior tayari amepewa kazi na rais, ni ofisaa mkuu katika ofisi ya rais,” Gachagua said.

Gachugua however noted that he had forgiven Githae for supporting Azimio and asked Ngaruiya Junior to offer him a job in the office of the President.

But since this is the time of forgiveness and embracing everybody, Ngaruiya si upatie Githae appointment. When can he come? Akuje siku gani? Thursday saa ngapi? Saa mbili kamili. Na sasa wewe Ngaruiya atakuja ofisi gani? You have two offices, one in Harambee House, one in State House, where do you want him to come? Bas ukuje State House saa mbili on Thursday,” Gachagua said.
