Lawyers representing the late Tob Cohen’s family and his widow, Sarah Wairimu, have agreed on burial arrangements for the slain Dutch tycoon.
The burial will take place on Monday, September 23, 2019, but it will be a private ceremony in which the media has been barred from.
Wairimu, who was charged with Cohen’s murder, will attend the ceremony set to be held at a Jewish cemetery on Wangari Maathai Road in Nairobi.
The lawyers agreed to have the burial certificate handed to the widow and her sister-in-law, Gabrie Van Struaten.
“The burial rites will be in accordance with Jewish rites by the concerned community leaders,” said a statement prepared by lawyers Philip Murgor and Cliff Ombeta.
Ombeta, who is representing Van Struaten, said Cohen won’t be buried in a coffin.
Wairimu’s lawyer, Murgor, said they will request the court to release the body for burial.
The family had disagreed on Wednesday over burial plans after Wairimu rejected demand by her sister-in-law to have Cohen’s body released.
The postmortem on the body of Cohen was successfully conducted on Wednesday but the results cannot be published by the media because of a gag by the court.
