President William Ruto has revealed that he is now a grandfather.

The Head of State, while speaking during an interdenominational prayer service at Nanyuki Stadium in Laikipia county, on Sunday, January 8, thanked the residents for giving him a daughter-in-law whom he says has since been blessed with a firstborn.

Ruto was speaking in reference to his firstborn son Nick Ruto who held his wedding on January 15, at Windy Ridge in Karen, Nairobi.

Nick,30, tied the knot with his lover Evelyn Chemutai, (a daughter to Mr and Mrs David Baron from Laikipia county), in a beautiful traditional ceremony otherwise known as Koito among the Kalenjin community.

Nashukuru watu wa Laikipia kwa kupatia kijana wangu bibi. Sasa tumebarikiwa na mjukuu. (Last year, we came here to pay dowry and I now want to thank the people of Laikipia, who gave my son a wife, because we have been blessed with a grandchild),” President Ruto stated.

Adding;

“Perhaps me being early here has to do with that! So thank you to the people of Laikipia for giving me a daughter-in-law. Our family is growing.”

Baby’s gender

The Head of State did, however, not share either the gender or the name of his grandchild.

Nick’s (who is also a lawyer) nuptials came barely a year after Ruto’s firstborn daughter June officially walked down the aisle to her Nigerian learned lover Alex Ezenagu in May 2021.
