Zari Hassan, who is 12 years older than her lover Shakib Cham Lutaaya, has dismissed critics castigating her over the age gap.

Speaking to Galaxy FM, Zari stressed that Shakib was not a child the way critics have portrayed it.

The 42-year-old mother of five further revealed that her boyfriend was 30.

You can’t tell me 42 and 30… Shakib is not a child. He is 30. For me honestly speaking he is not a child. He’s been above 18 a long time ago,” Zari said.

Shakib recently celebrated his birthday and Zari poured out her heart to him in a post on social media on December 5, 2022.

Happy birthday King K, here is to wishing you a happy birthday and many more blessings in life 💞,” Zari wrote.

Shakib’s parents

In the same interview with Galaxy FM, Zari disclosed that she had already met Shakib’s parents and that they had no problem whatsoever with their son dating a woman who is 12 years older than him.

“I have met his parent. He took me to meet his parents and they were so nice. They don’t have any problem with it,” Zari said.

Double standards

The South Africa-based Uganda socialite further wondered why the African society has no problem with old men marrying young ladies yet older women dating younger men are stigmatised.

“This society has double standards, when older men marry young girls, you don’t talk about it,” Zari lamented.
