Three Catholic sisters have died in a road accident that occurred on Saturday morning at Kaptendon near Arwos trading centre in Emgwen constituency, Nandi County.
The incident which occurred along Kapsabet-Himaki road involved a Prado which was heading to Nairobi and a Toyota Fielder ferrying the Catholic sisters heading to an ordinations ceremony of one of the church leaders in the region.
The Prado collided head-on with a Toyota fielder leaving several other passengers with injuries.
According to Arwos location acting chief Nicholas Kogo, three lives have been lost in the accident and the occupants of both Probox and Toyota fielder vehicles who sustained injuries have been taken to Kapsabet county referral hospital for treatment.
He further noted that one nun who survived is currently in critical condition and was referred to Moi Teaching and referral hospital.
“The accident happened today morning and unfortunately one sister lost her life instantly while the other two succumbed to injuries at the hospital. Prado had 5 occupants, 3 were injured and are in Kapsabet hospital. Toyota Fielder had 4 sisters. We have lost the three and the other sister who sustained serious injuries has been referred to Moi Teaching and referral hospital, it is a sad day, we say pole” Kogo said.
