Controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna has flown out of the country a month after his return to Kenya.

Miguna on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, announced he was leaving Kenya for London, United Kingdom (UK) through a series of posts on social media.

“To London, with love. I’ll be back soon! Viva!” He wrote.

In another post, Miguna asked to be allowed to travel in and out of Kenya as he pleases, noting that President William Ruto had travelled out of the country more than 15 times since his inauguration.

“President William Ruto is in South Korea on a state visit. He has travelled out of Kenya more than 15 times since his inauguration. Please Kenyans, allow General Miguna to exercise his rights and travel out and into the country whenever necessary. Freedom is here! Viva!” Miguna wrote.

“I’m so happy and grateful to have enjoyed the right of coming back home. I’m overwhelmed with joy and gratitude for the support by the government and the people of Kenya. I’ve experienced acts of kindness from total strangers. We have a great country, with great people. Viva! KQ boarded me first, before everyone else. A great privilege! An Indian supporter has just upgraded me to first class! Incredible!!” He added.

Miguna’s return

Miguna Miguna returned to Kenya on October 20, 2022, after four years of forced exile. Friends and relatives received the firebrand lawyer at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Miguna was deported to Canada where he is also a citizen following his role in the unofficial swearing-in of opposition leader Raila Odinga as “the people’s president” back in 2018.

In April this year, while appearing for a media interview, former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i indicated that Miguna was required to fill out a one-page document to re-register for Kenya citizenship.

Matiang’i said that was the only way the lawyer would secure his travel back according to the new constitution.

However, the new administration of President William Ruto removed all the restrictions that prevented Miguna from traveling to Kenya to allow the lawyer to jet back home.
