Police have arrested a 27-year-old woman over the cold blood killing of her boyfriend in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado county.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Jacklyn Zakayo is believed to have stabbed Kennedy Bitonye Oyatsi, 47, with a kitchen knife after a bitter disagreement over an unspecified at their rented house on the night of Saturday, November 19.

The deceased was a driver at the Kenya School of Law.

The incident was reported to the detectives by neighbours who heard a commotion and loud screens from the couple’s house in the dead of the night.

“Upon arrival, neighbours noticed patterns of blood splatter which littered the floor of the house and the murder weapon, a broken kitchen knife,” DCI said.

The neighbours are said to have rushed the victim to hospital but he was unfortunately declared dead on arrival.

“Crime scene detectives based at the DCI national forensic laboratory documented the scene and recovered the murder weapon for further analysis,” DCI added.

The sleuths are holding the woman as the probe into the incident continues.

“Detectives are currently interviewing more witnesses in a bid to unravel the actual events preceding the murder,” the directorate revealed.

Murder cases on the rise

Cases of homicide have been on the rise in recent weeks.

DCI officers on November 18 arrested the main suspect behind the brutal murder of Naneu Muthoni, who was found murdered in her house at Onyoka estate in Langata on November 14.

The suspect Thomas Muthee Ng’ang’a, who was the husband to the deceased, was arrested along the Kenya-Uganda border in Malaba.

Police said the suspect had been hiding in the border town since the murder was reported.

“The suspect is believed to have masterminded the gruesome murder of his lover whose lifeless body was found sprawled on a sofa, with a deep cut on the forehead and blood oozing from her nose,” DCI said.

At the time of the suspect’s arrest, some personal effects belonging to the deceased were recovered from him.

Last month, a former Kiambu woman representative aspirant found herself on the wrong side of the law after she was identified as the main suspect in her husband’s murder.

The suspect, Gladys Chania, is said to have murdered her husband, George Mwangi, after she suspected him of having an affair with a secretary at a local school.
