Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has been arraigned in Murang’a Law Courts where he is set to be charged with assaulting a police officer and disrupting a church service.
In court, he appeared alongside his lawyer Irung’u Kangata and Kandara MP Alice Wahome.
His lawyer Kang’ata told K24 Digital that they have not received any communication about the dropping of his charges contrary to earlier report that the Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai had recalled his file for review.
After his arrest following a cat and mouse game with the police, protests erupted in Murang’a town forcing police to use teargas to disperse the rowdy crowd.
Nyoro was arrested in Murang’a County on Monday evening over the chaos that ensued at Gatui Catholic Church when he stormed the service for not being invited to a fundraiser.
At the church, ugly scenes ensued after he confronted nominated MP Maina Kamanda, a member of the Kieleweke faction of Jubilee Party.
Nyoro, who is a member of Jubilee’s Tanga Tanga group, was not pleased that Kamanda could organise a fundraiser in his home turf without inviting or notifying him.
