Kandara MP Alice Wahome on Monday claimed that the government is unfairly targeting leaders allied to team Tanga Tanga.
Wahome said there is a plan to eliminate her and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro because of their political affiliation.
Speaking during a TV talk show on Monday morning, Wahome claimed that there was a meeting which was held in Murang’a last week in a home of a prominent business person where some political leaders and security agents were present.
The agenda of the meeting, she said was to discuss how those who support the Deputy President William Ruto will be cut to size.
“The reference was that Ruto has become too popular and he is having so many followers and thus becoming strong in Murang’a” she said.
“I have not recorded a statement with the police and I know I should have done that but this is not something to take lightly.”
Wahome even claimed that the Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho, in a text message, warned her against talking about him in public.
Karanja Kibicho, in a text message, warned her against talking about him in public.
“This means the state is becoming desperate or we are going back to the old dark days where politicians who were in search for freedom were silenced through death, intimidation and torture,” she said.
On his part, Kiharu MP Nyoro said the issue of him being targeted did not arise from Sunday’s incident but much earlier.
Nyoro claimed he has been receiving threats, even from Maina Kamanda, who has been persuading him to shift allegiance to the Kieleweke side of Jubilee Party.
The Kiharu MP said Kamanda called him prior to the Gitau fundraiser and told him they would “finish” him politically.
“How can I be forced to popularize Raila in Murang’a while I know very well he is not sellable?” he asked.
Nyoro also accused the Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and his PS Kibicho of using state power to intimidate them.
“If the two want to join politics, they should resign from their offices and come to the ground” he said.
