Controversial digital strategist, Dennis Itumbi, has been sued by a middle-aged woman for child support.
The plaintiff, through her lawyer Enricah Dulo, says Itumbi impregnated and abandoned her to solely provide for their daughter, who was born on June 19, 2019.
The complainant says shortly after she conceived in August, 2018 and informed Itumbi about the pregnancy, the digital strategist fled.
The plaintiff, who is an orphan, says she dated Itumbi between January 2018 and August 2018.
The woman now wants the digital strategist, who works for the presidency, compelled by the court to pay a monthly child upkeep of Ksh50, 000 as the case continues.
The complainant filed the suit at the Milimani Children’s court.
“We urge the court to expedite the case for the minor’s sake,” said the woman’s lawyer, Dulo.
The woman says when she gave birth, she left her work to take care of the child, a situation that left her with no sufficient finances to provide for the girl.
According to her, Itumbi is yet to send a single coin for the child’s welfare.
“The applicant has unsuccessfully tried to engage the defendant to provide maintenance for the minor, but he always refuses to attend the mediation meetings. Instead, he usually sends his friend Gitau, who is not even an advocate,” said Dulo.
The lawyer further accuses Itumbi of cruelly treating his client and her baby.
The applicant says, in her court documents, that Itumbi unsuccessfully tried to convince her to abort the pregnancy.
“On October 26, 2018, Itumbi invited the applicant for a meeting, in which he, again, attempted to convince her to get rid of the unborn baby,” said Dulo.
Besides child upkeep, the woman also wants Itumbi’s name inscribed on her daughter’s birth certificate. She also wants the baby enrolled in a health insurance scheme that will be paid for by Itumbi.
