Some of the Safaricom users woke up to suspended lines after missing the SIM registration deadline.
In an earlier communication, all SIM cards were supposed to have been registered by Saturday, October 15 following a directive by the Communication Authority of Kenya.
However, Communications Authority of Kenya’s Director-General Ezra Chiloba noted that not everyone is required to register their details afresh.
“The major complaint we have had is the requirement of photos and everything. The regulations do not anticipate that we are going to take a photograph of you.
“And so if you are duly registered, then you do not need to go to your operator and service provider to get re-registered,” Ezra Chiloba clarified in April.
Some users have taken their frustrations online threatening to ditch the service provider for its competitors.
Among them are city lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi and Makueni governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr. Ahmednasir’s line has however been restored and he’s now a happy man.

I woke up only to find @Safaricom_Care have decided to switch off my line.I was about to pay my Dstv subscription only to realize that the network bar ain’t available. This is after I’ve paid 50bob to register the line 2mnth ago. As a customer i feel disrespected & am done for G.
