Kenyan gospel musician Bahati has revealed that the first two years of dating his now-wife, Diana Marua, were marred by on-and-off breaks ups.
Bahati told K24 Television host, Betty Kyallo, that Ms Marua’s biggest shortcoming was that she “couldn’t lower her pride to apologise, even when it was extremely clear that she was the one on the wrong”.
As a result of that pride, Bahati said, Ms Marua would often carry her things and return to her parents’ home every other time they would have a difficult-to-resolve dispute.
“During our first two years of dating, I was forced to be humble by Diana. She is that type of a woman, who when she wrongs you, she won’t easily say: ‘I am sorry’. The first two years, she packed her things and left my house several times. She would pack, go and come back; pack again, go and come back. For her, saying ‘sorry’ is very hard,” Bahati told K24 on Up-Close with Betty.
Ms Marua, on her end, said Bahati met her, when she was living a carefree life, and felt like she owed no one an explanation for her actions.
“Before I met Bahati, I was of the world, ile proper!” she said.
Being of the world, comprised partying, binging and generally, enjoying life as it came, suggested Ms Marua. That kind of a lifestyle, Bahati said, would often cause friction between him and Diana Marua.
The Barua star narrated that one day his wife strived to “look sober” in front of him after spending the night at a nightclub.
“She took a lot of mint chewing gum to remove the smell of alcohol in her breath, but all failed. I still knew that she had had a glass or two of liquor,” said Bahati.
Ms Marua, on the other hand, said Bahati’s major weakness, but one which he has improved on, is not helping her with babysitting.
“When we had our first child, Heaven, Bahati would leave me in the house the whole day to look after the baby, and when he returned at home in the evening, he wouldn’t even help me babysit our daughter. I felt he was not being supportive, but with our second child, Majesty, I have seen that he has improved significantly,” said Diana Marua.
Bahati exchanged wedding vows with Ms Marua in October 2017.
Gospel musician Bahati and his wife, Diana Marua, welcomed their second baby together in August this year.
The couple’s son, named Majesty Bahati, was given birth to at 1:04pm on Wednesday, August 14 at a Nairobi hospital.
Baby Majesty is Bahati’s third biological child.
His first born child, Mueni Bahati, whom he got with ex-lover, Yvette Obura, is 4 years old.
His second born child, Heaven Bahati, whom he shares with his wife, Marua, was born on February 14, 2018.
Bahati has three other adopted children namely Morgan, 8, Purity, 8, and Rose, 14.
