A youthful man was on Wednesday morning (August 14) beheaded by two men inside a betting shop in Kitengela, Kajiado County.

The incident happened at 11:47am at a shop located 20 meters from a police post.

Following the murder, Kitengela Town residents took to the streets to voice their displeasure at the rising cases of insecurity in the area.

It is reported that the man’s killers confronted him inside the betting shop. The attackers, thereafter, locked the door and slit the throat of their victim.

The cause of the fatal attack is yet to be known.

Residents, who had heard commotions emanating from the betting shop, broke down the shop’s door and found blood oozing from the deceased’s neck.

Police, however, managed to swiftly arrive at the scene and rescued the suspects from the charged mob.

The police officers’ bid to drive away with the suspects was met with opposition, forcing the law enforcement agents to shoot in the air to disperse the crowd.

The residents accused police of allowing prohibited gambling activities to thrive under their watch.

The Kitengela Town inhabitants further say that the betting spots have been serving as breeding grounds for criminals.

Isinya Sub-County police boss, Kinyua Mugambi, says investigations into the matter have begun.

The suspects are being detained at Kitengela Police Station, whereas the body of their victim was taken to a Kajiado hospital.
