By Dun Wanga in Uasin Gishu County.

The security officers attached to Nandi Governor Stephen Sang have allegedly been withdrawn weeks after he brought down tea crops said to have been grown on grabbed land.

Sang accuses Interior Ministry of withdrawing his security personnel, “yet my action of repossessing grabbed public land was for the good of the society”.

The county boss says the internal security docket has been using withdrawal of leaders’ security as a makeshift measure to shut down vocal elected representatives “fighting against historical injustices”.

Addressing journalists at his office in Nandi County on Friday, the governor also called out the State for “taking lightly” allegations about DP William Ruto’s assassination plot.

“If anything happens to Ruto, the innocent blood of the DP will rest squarely on the hands of the Jubilee Government,” said Sang, urging the State to increase the contigent of security officers assigned to guard the DP.

Sang says he wants Interior PS Karanja Kibicho “suspended” over claims that he is masterminding Ruto assassination plot.

The Interior ministry is yet to address the governor’s allegations that his security has been taken away.
