Two murder suspects; Lokitari Lorokoi and Pilat Lukaile, will be detained for seven more days pending investigations over murder allegations.

Senior Principal Magistrate Judith Wanjala approved the miscellaneous application by allowing the investigation officer to detain the suspects.

The two were arrested on the evening of Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Loruk centre after fleeing jurisdiction since April this year when they performed the heinous act.

It is alleged that the duo disappeared after allegedly killing a man, George Chebor, on April 12, 2022, in Loruk area, Baringo North.

Weldon Koech, the investigation officer attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Baringo North had requested 14 days to complete the investigation.

In his application, he stated that the days indicated will grant more time to take witness statements and conduct mental assessments on the suspects before booking them for a plea.

Wanjala, however, granted him seven days stating that the days were enough to gather and complete information linking the suspects to the murder.

“The suspects are to be detained at Kabarnet Police station for seven days pending an ongoing investigation. The case will be heard on September 9, 2022,” Wanjala ruled.
