Joe Kigara, the only Jubilee MCA candidate in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Gatundu South constituency who survived the UDA wave, has vowed to serve all his constituents regardless of who they voted for.

Kigara, who was elected MCA for Ng’enda ward on a Jubilee party ticket, said the journey was tough as almost all electorates had been swayed by the UDA party wind.

He stated that despite President Uhuru coming from his Ward, his deputy William Ruto who was recently declared the President-Elect campaigned in the area a lot making locals believe in his ideas and manifesto.

“That was a very hard period, especially for us who have all along believed in the Jubilee party principles. We have fought a very hard battle against UDA which was a chorus to many here. Everyone had been infected with the yellow fever disease,” he said.

Having been elected by the majority of voters, Kigara vowed to get to work to transform the lives of locals regardless of their political affiliations.

Kigara called on locals to keep peace and pray that the country resumes normalcy for social-economic developments.

Kigara beat other contenders to emerge the best in a race which was largely a fight between political parties and not individuals.

He garnered 4, 327 votes.

Elsewhere, Joakim Njama, the former MCA for Ngoliba ward in Thika, managed to defend his position on the Jubilee Party ticket beating UDA and Maendeleo Chap Chap candidates.

Njama says his development track record saw him floor his challengers despite vying on a party that has continuously lost touch with the people.

“I believed in myself and I decided to stick to Jubilee. I thank God that despite UDA and other parties having deep roots here, the voters considered my service delivery and I look forward to serving them better this term now that I have the experience,” he said.
