President Uhuru Kenyatta has assured his Mt Kenya support base that he is not going to take a backseat after his retirement.

Speaking at a live interview with radio and television stations that broadcast in Central Kenya dialects, the outgoing Head of State said that he will develop a working relationship with the incoming government in a bid to safeguard the interests of Mt Kenya residents.

“I’m not going anywhere, I’m just changing careers. You will still see me around and I pledge to work with the incoming government. However, my people of Mt Kenya I’m leaving you in safe hands with an advocate of human rights and an iron lady,” he said.

Uhuru also urged Mt Kenya residents to embrace peace and unity as the country heads to the General Elections.
