A collection of equipment to be used in conducting the census exercise, which begins tonight (August 24), have been stolen from a West Pokot workshop.

A tablet whose serial number is 155354, a USB cable, an adapter, a power bank, an enumerator’s badge and a reflector jacket were on Thursday night stolen from a Siyoi centre workshop belonging to Adrian Kemei.

Kemei, in his report filed at Kapenguria Police Station, said he had locked the equipment in his shop on Thursday night, but when he accessed the store at 10am Friday, he discovered that burglars had broken into the facility and made away with the equipment.

“Police have visited the scene, and there was no recovery [of the equipment] made,” reads a part of the report.

This incident happened just one day to the national census exercise, which begins at 6pm on Saturday, August 24 and ends on Saturday, August 31.
