The ODM party has nominated former Sauti Sol singer Crystal Asige to parliament ahead of the August polls.
In a party list gazetted by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on Wednesday, July 25, the visually impaired artiste has been nominated to the Senate to represent Persons Living with Disabilities.
ODM submitted the name of the talented songwriter and singer alongside that of Kakiri Nickson Ochieng, a young man who became deaf at the age of two years.
Crystal Asige features in ‘Extravaganza’
Asige featured on Sauti Sol’s hit song Extravaganza. She left the group after an alleged disagreement with the boy band.
“It’s not a very long story, back in November (2019) they told me they wanted me to leave, they don’t want me to be in the group anymore so I left. That’s literally the beginning and the end of the story,” she said in a past interview.
Youth representatives
ODM has nominated youthful politicians Kakiri Nickson Ochieng and Hezena Lemaletian to represent the youth in the Senate.
In the women category, ODM picked Chairperson of the National Elections Board (NEB) Catherine Mumma and Homa Bay County Energy and Mining (CEC) for nomination to the National Assembly. Others are Hamida Ali Kibwana and Betty Batuli Montet.
