Police in Homa Bay County are holding a woman for stabbing her husband to death. The suspect is said to have attacked the deceased after they fought over a mobile phone in a bar.

The incident happened at a local bar within Homa Bay town where the duo was drinking. The deceased was identified as 31-year-old Charles Okoth – an employee of the Homa Bay county government.

Okoth succumbed to the injuries on the spot after his wife stabbed him at the bar.

According to those who were at the scene, the deceased was having a drink alone and was later joined by the suspect who turned out to be his wife.

“It was at this time when the two started quarrelling as the suspect demanded to forcefully see the deceased’s phone and when he declined, the suspect drew a kitchen knife from her handbag and stabbed Okoth,” the eyewitness said.

The witness further disclosed that the suspect stabbed the deceased in the chest where he collapsed and died.

Homa Bay town area chief Joshua Ochogo said the victim and the suspect were influenced by alcohol and that they were not being able to control their emotions.

“They were both drunk and could not control their actions and due to that, the stabbing occurred,” Ochogo said.
