Mombasa: 17-year-old lynched to death as mother pleads with his attackers

A 17-year-old boy was on Friday, July 9 2022, lynched to death by a mob as his mother tried to intervene to save his life.

According to a police report, the boy was attacked by the mob within Shika Adobe area, Mombasa, after they alleged that he was stealing from the area residents.

The deceased’s mother, Lilian Ochieng, who received the sad news from a good Samaritan rushed to the scene to ask the mob to stop beating her son.

However, her pleas landed on deaf ears as the angry mob also attempted to give her a thorough beating. She resorted to asking help from police officers so as to rescue her son from the angry mob that was baying for his blood.

“Police rushed to the scene, where they found angry members of the public attacking the said suspect and tried to rescue him, at the time of rescue the suspect had sustained multiple injuries on the head,

“He was rushed to Likoni Sub-county district hospital where he succumbed to his injuries,” the report reads in parts.

The body was moved to Coast General hospital mortuary awaiting to undergo postmortem.

“Investigations into the incidence have commenced to establish the motive,” the police report added.

He was a close associate of two other suspects identified as Micheal Dojaj and Ali Hamisi alias foolish who are currently being held at Shimo la Tewa G.k prison.
