A 21-year-old girl was on Friday morning brutally murdered by unknown people in Mowlem area of Endebess Constituency, Trans Nzoia County.

Confirming the incident, Endebess Sub-County Police Commander Salesio Njiru noted that the girl who had gone to cut grass for their cows was found lying lifeless on a maize plantation.

The deceased’s mother, Rose Simiyu expressed her shock after she received the agonizing news of the murder of her innocent daughter and urged the government to ensure justice is served.

“My daughter, Nakhumicha left here in the morning in good health to look for pasture for our cows. I was shocked when I was told she has been killed. Her head was hit badly and her neck broken,

“She was my eighth borne child, she met a very painful death. I am asking the government to do all that is possible so that we get justice” she appealed.

Locals in Trans Nzoia urge gov’t to beef security

Locals of the area condemned the heinous act and asked the government to beef up security in the area.

“This is not the first or the second incident, recently a woman was hacked several times, before that, another woman was attacked. These events are on the rise and we demand protection from the government ” Silvester Suboya said.

Commander Njiru said investigations have been launched to bring the culprits to book.

“It appears that the unknown culprits resorted to killing the girl after their plans to sexually violate the girl did not succeed,” Njiru said.

The body of the deceased was moved to Kitale County Referral Hospital mortuary pending investigation.
