KDF kill 10 newly Al-Shabaab graduates during operation

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) on Friday announced killing 10 new Al-Shabaab graduates in the ongoing operations in Boni forest.

In a statement dated Friday 1, the KDF stated that the operation was carried out between Sarira and Kolbio areas within the stated forest.

“On July 1, 2022, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops carried out an operation between Sarira and Kolbio areas within the expansive Boni forest.

“During the operation, 10 newly graduated Al Shabaab terrorists were killed as others escaped with multiple injuries,” the statement reads in parts.

KDF recover weapons

KDF said that one Rocket Propelled Grenade launcher (RPG), several assault weapons, assorted ammunition, and personal effects were recovered during the operation.

The militants had planned to carry out attacks within the Lamu Port-South Sudan-Ethiopia Transport (LAPSSET) corridor.

“The militants are part of the Jysh Ayman team led by Maalim Ayman who had planned to carry out attacks within the Lamu port-South Sudan-Ethiopia Transport (LAPSSET) corridor.” the statement added.

KDF troops further stated that with support from local residents and security agencies they will intensify operations along the Kenya-Somalia border to get rid of Al Shabaab terrorists.
