Raila Odinga was among presidential candidates who left a meeting with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) following the arrival of Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate William Ruto.
The Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate and his running mate Martha Karua cited ‘other engagements’ as the reason they left, while Roots Presidential candidate Prof George Wajackoyah left without uttering a word.
“We want to seek leave to attend to other matters but we have a very robust team behind us. We apologise for leaving before the end, but duty calls,” Karua said
IEBC was holding a consultative meeting with presidential candidates at the Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club to deliberate on the state of preparedness by the Commission for the August 9 elections.
Raila, Ruto meet
Raila bumped into Ruto while he was walking out of the IEBC meeting as the DP and his entourage arrived at the facility.
The two political rivals shook hands when they met by chance on Wednesday morning June 29 before each of them went their separate ways.
Ruto and his running mate Rigathi Gachagua arrived late at the IEBC meeting. It was reported that the two had another meeting in Tharaka Nithi.
