The police have arrested 128 members of the notorious gang in Nakuru in an ongoing crackdown.
Confirming the arrest, the Rift valley regional police commander, Mohamed Maalim, has said the criminal gang members will be arraigned in court.
The regional police boss said anyone found with a weapon would be considered a gang member.
“Investigations are currently on, and we will ensure they are all arraigned in court. Any member of the public found with a weapon will be considered a gang member,” Maalim stated.
Maalim said that at least 108 cases had been reported linked to the gang.
They have recovered six swords, 62 knives, 15 Machetes, 40 phones, 40 laptops, over 100 kilograms of bhang, and 3,367 rolls of hard drugs.
The commissioner also revealed that 100 Motorcycles that had been stolen have also been impounded, but no one has come forth to claim any.
He said the items recovered with be destroyed to ensure they won’t get to members of the public again, and the motorcycles will be auctioned.
“The motorcycles will be forfeited for the members of the public or auctioned to raise revenue. The police will destroy the rest of the items after we have sought a court order to ensure they do not get back to the public again,” he added.
A hotspot area has been mapped where the gangs are concentrated, and authorities will be focused there.
Last Saturday, Interior Affairs Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i ordered a crackdown to flush the notorious gang that has been killing women using crude weapons.
