A 23-year-old MCA candidate for Kalimoni Ward in Juja, Kiambu County is up in arms with his opponents for allegedly pulling down his campaign posters and replacing them with prints advertising the services of astrologers and witchdoctors.

Kelvin Kariuki Mbuthia, a recent graduate, regretted that despite struggling his way to put up his campaign banners across the vast ward, his challengers are on a mission to derail his bid to be the next MCA.

He said the posters are plucked out of electricity poles, walls of buildings and trees by persons on a mission to stop his candidature.

Speaking in Juja town, the hopeful MCA, who is battling it out with moneyed and mighty political figures, decried that he had spent everything he had to try and sell his agendas to locals but his rivals are leaving nothing to chance to stop his bid.

Worse enough, Kariuki regretted that his competitors were, instead of replacing his posters with theirs, substituting his with witchdoctors’.

“It is sad that some of us who are struggling to sell our agenda are being stopped by persons only advancing their self-interests. I have struggled my way to put up my campaign posters but my opponents are pulling them down and at the same space, their erect banners with witchdoctors messaging. It is very unfortunate that they are not agreeing that we compete in ideas,” Kariuki lamented.

The distraught young man urged security organs to move swiftly and take action against persons found vandalizing campaign materials of their rivals.
