Four slain victims who died from police bullets during Masimba protest are set to be buried today Saturday, June 11, 2022.

The four males were shot dead by GSU officers while holding a protest against rampant attacks by elephants.

Protesters had barricaded the busy Nairobi-Mombasa highway using stones and borne fire after a teacher from Kenyawa Poka was killed by marauding elephants.

Three victims died on the spot and one died while being rushed to Makindu sub-county hospital.

Burial for Masimba victims

The victims will be buried in their separate homes on Saturday. Top Kajiado political leadership is scheduled to attend the respective burials.

Meanwhile, locals continue urging Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) to safeguard them against marauding wildlife.

The ravaging drought that has hit most parts of Kajiado is said to fuel human-wildlife conflict due to diminishing pastures.
