Your favourite influencers are going viral because they didn’t dress up! Netizens argue that the event was mostly ‘misses’, from style to invitees’ list, and the event setup.
On Thursday, May 26 Rihanna’s luxury beauty line products Fenty officially launched in Kenya.
Fenty was also launching in seven other African countries; Nigeria South Africa, Ghana, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Zambia.
The invites only event has now turned into a heated topic online as KOT goes all in because for some reason the invitees had some horrendous couture.
By now you’ve probably laughed at your favourite celeb’s fashion choice or lack of it thereof and cracked at the trail of memes from the casual outfits that immediately stirred up hilarious shenanigans across social media.
Some pointed out that this event brought out the same old bevvy of celebrities that you are most likely to see in any other campaign.
Beauty gurus and beauty influencers and content creators were left in the cold as organisers sought internet personalities.
Three questions now remain;
- Is it that we lack stylists in Kenya or are these influencers not so concerned about good fashion?
- Why do we have the same faces for every campaign?
- Do you consider numbers or expertise in the field during a campaign (or simply just vibes & zero/low budget)?
Here are some of the reactions to the Fenty beauty launch as sampled by K24-digital:

The problem with Kenya all events have the same faces, make up, UN meeting on climate change, jiggers, natural hair, mental health , beer launch , wine launch, formula one even football .. https://t.co/SGFcmn5Yqz

People who don’t even wear makeup let alone fenty were at that event.

Fenty Beauty being launched by comrades instead of baddies is tantamount to a war crime

I don’t understand how make-up guru, Polycarp Igathe, wasn’t invited to the Fenty product launch.
