Nakuru-Nairobi highway closed near Stem Hotel after tanker spills fuel

Highway police have blocked Nakuru-Nairobi highway near Stem Hotel at Pipeline area over an oil tanker that spilled fuel on the road.

Nakuru Town East OCPD Ellena Kabukuru told K24 Digital that they have directed motorists to use alternative routes to allow experts clean up the spill.

The officer has also warned Kenyans to keep off the area and resist the urge to siphon off the fuel from leaking tanker.

Ms Kabukuru said the police are trying to avoid a disaster similar to the one that happened in Morogoro, Tanzania.

The Tanzania incident killed 69 people and injured scores.
