As Kenya celebrates the memorial service of the late third President Mwai Kibaki, Queen Elizabeth has sent her message of condolences.
In a statement, the Queen eulogised Kibaki as a great statesman in whom Kenya can take pride in the legacy of his leadership.

“He had a lifelong record of service to the Kenyan people. It will be of deep sadness to your country to have lost a great statesman, but Kenya can take pride in the legacy of his leadership,” part of the message from HM The Queen read.
Kibaki passed away last Friday at the age of 90 years.
Today’s memorial service which is being held at Nyayo National Stadium is led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and is graced by several foreign dignitaries including Heads of States.
The service is inter-denominational but led by the Catholic Church.
The foreign dignitaries present include South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, his South Sudan counterpart Salva Kiir and Ethiopian Head of State Sahle-Work-Zewde among others.
