Singer Bahati is crying foul after Jubilee Party asked him to step down for an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate in Mathare parliamentary race.

In a video circulating online, Bahati is seen begging President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga to allow him to contest in the race.

Bahati pleading with Uhuru, Raila

“I wish to appeal to my President Uhuru Kenyatta and Baba Raila Odinga, please give a youth a chance to contest.

“I know Mathare has been zoned as an ODM zone, but for this one time, please give a youth of this country a chance,” Bahati is seen pleading.

He said the people of Mathare have suffered for a long time and they needed change.

“I want to tell my party leader H.E President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, I will not lie to you. These people of Mathare have suffered for a long time. I did not join politics to look for a job.

Jubilee certificate

“I already had one. These people of Mathare want someone who understands their problems, someone who comes from there,” he added.

Bahati had already been issued with a Jubilee certificate to contest for the seat.

ODM’s Anthony Oluoch is the current MP of Mathare and a fierce defender of Raila.
