The National Police Service has announced that its officers on patrol in Kisauni have nabbed 5 youths belonging to a gang known as ‘Panga Boys’.

“Police officers on patrol in Mjambere ward in Kisauni Sub-County have this morning arrested 5 youths belonging to an organized criminal group dubbed ‘Panga Boys.’ The five Abdul Shakur Charo, Lukman Said Salim, Omar Rajab Omar, Masuud Mohammed Bwana and Nahim Akinyi Ongut,” a statement by the Service stated.

The Service further stated that the dreaded gang derives its “Panga Boys” name from their preferred weapon of choice Panga (machetes). The five gang members were reportedly on a mission to commit crimes within Kisauni’s Soko Mjinga Area.

The police disarmed the gangsters and recovered their weapons. The 5 gang members are currently in police custody awaiting arraignment.

The Service called upon Mombasa residents who may have been robbed by the gang to report to the Mjambere police station for further police action.
