Sakaja Johnson (born February 2, 1985) is the current Senator of Nairobi County, having been elected on the 8th of August 2017 in Kenya’s General Election. He was formerly a nominated Member of Parliament who served in that capacity from 2017.
The National Alliance (TNA), a member of the current Jubilee Coalition, nominated him to Parliament. He was the National Chairman of The National Alliance (TNA) until the party combined with 12 others to establish the Jubilee Party on September 9, 2016.

He used to be a rapper
The Senator once revealed to the Standard Newspaper that he used to be a rapper. Although he rarely discusses this aspect of his history, it was revealed last year that he was a part of a rap group known as Mission Driven rap group. Sakaja’s talent was revealed after a video of him rapping in an underground group went viral, wowing his supporters. In September 2006, the aforementioned music group produced a song called Save Me Saviour (Forgive).
“I used to own a cyber in town, and I opened approximately 300 email addresses to send requests. The days I would skip work, I’d find that my songs had dropped off the charts,” Sakaja admitted amid laughter.
Lenana High School alumni
Sakaja had his primary education at Nairobi’s Aga Khan Academy and then proceeded to Lenana High School in 1988 for his secondary school education. Sakaja was the prefect’s coordinator at Lenana High School, among other things.
He graduated with a Degree in Actuarial Science.
Senator Sakaja is a graduate of the University of Nairobi. He graduated with a Degree in Actuarial Science. The Senator landed his first job when he was 19 years old. He, however, lost the job a year later.
He worked at a cyber cafe
Sakaja once worked at his aunt’s cybercafe in Nairobi where he also used to produce music. He developed an interest in guitar playing and rapping while at his aunt’s cyber cafe.
He is a businessman
Sakaja is an established businessman with an interest in various sectors. He owns the Arthur Johnson Consultancy Company which deals in financial management.
He took part in the 2005 Constitutional referendum
Sakaja joined politics in 2005 as a student leader at the University of Nairobi. During the 2007 general election, he was the leader of the Vijana na Kibaki lobby organization and actively participated in the 2005 Constitutional referendum. Senator Sakaja was elected head of the TNA in 2013 and ran presidential campaigning for Uhuru Kenyatta. Former president Mwai Kibaki is his political mentor.
He likes playing the guitar
Senator Sakaja enjoys playing the guitar, spending time with his family, and creating music. He is also a devoted Christian who attends church every Sunday. The Senator’s political career is slowly progressing as he wins more supporters every day.
