Deputy President William Ruto has brushed off calls for a referendum and instead asked leaders to focus on serving their constituents.

Speaking during an interdenominational fundraiser at Olasiti AIC church in Narok East Constituency, DP Ruto asked elected leaders to stop spreading propaganda and prioritise development.

Dr Ruto said the referendum debate should be stopped to allow the Jubilee administration deliver the Big 4 agenda.

He assured Narok residents that they will benefit from an industrial park in Narok East.

The deputy president said the government will also ensure that the standard gauge railway is completed.

Earlier, Mr Ruto attended a church service at Redeemed Gospel Church.

He was accompanied by Interior Chief Administrative Secretary Patrick Ntutu and Narok Governor Samuel Tunai

Others were MPs Korei Lemein (Narok South), Ken Aramat (Narok East), David Sankok (nominated ), Gabriel Tongoyo (Narok West), Soipan Kudate (Woman Rep, Narok), Mugambi Rindikiri (Buuri) and Dominic Kosgei (Sotik).

Last week, the Building Bridges Initiative task force completed public hearings and retreated to write a report which will be presented to President Uhuru Kenyata and ODM leader Raila Odinga before the end of September.

The 12-member team has been on a nationwide tour and traversed all 47 counties collecting opinions of Kenyans on main issues facing the country.

It was gazetted in May 2018, two months after President Kenyatta and his rival-turned-friend Raila ended political hostilities after the disputed 2017 presidential elections.
