A traditional doctor, according to court papers, who allegedly conned former Member of Parliament Danson Mungatana Ksh76 million has told court that he was healing himself using Tanzanian herbal medicine after he failed to appear in court.

Abdoulaye Tamba Kouro who appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate’s court requested the court to lift the warrant of arrest issued against him claiming he was unwell.

“Your honour, I have been unwell. I did not go to any hospital because I opted to cure myself using herbal medication,” Abdoulaye said.

The Chad national who has been in custody after the court cancelled his bond terms pleaded with the court to forgive him for failing to avail medical documents claiming it’s impossible since he healed himself.

The man is accused of conning former Garsen Member of Parliament Danson Mungatana by pretending to multiply the said money by investing it in oil business.

He is alleged to have committed the offence between April 20 and 29, 2013, at Sandalwood apartment, along Brookside drive in Westlands within Nairobi county, jointly with others not before court.

According to the charge sheet, the witch doctor is alleged to have obtained from Danson Mungatana a sum of USD 1,000,000 (which was Ksh76M at that time) by falsely pretending that you are in a position to invest for him in the oil industry, a fact you knew to be false.

Chief Magistrate Wendy Micheni detained the witch doctor in custody pending the hearing of the case.

The matter will be mentioned on April 17, 2022, for further directions.
