COVID 19: Kenya records 13 new positive cases

The Ministry of Health on Friday announced that 13 new cases of COVID-19 from a sample size of 4,451, tested in the last 24 hours.

In a statement, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe confirmed that the positivity rate is now at a new low of 0.3%.

Of the cases, 7 are Kenyans while 6 are foreigners, with 6 being males and 7 females.

The youngest is an eight-year-old child and the oldest is 79 years old.

The total number of tests done now stands at 3,520,326 from which 323,436 people have tested positive.

The cumulative fatalities remain at 5,648 with zero cases reported for the last 24 hours.

Vaccination

As of March 31, a total of 17,645,128 vaccines had been administered across the country.

“Of these, 16,140,236 are doses administered to the adult population (18 years and above),” part of the statement read.

“Another 1,224,175 are doses administered to those between 15 to 17 years, while 280,717 are booster doses.”

The CS added that the total number of vaccines administered in the last 24 hours is 18,021 while the total number of people fully vaccinated is 12,912.

The proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 29.8 per cent, he said, adding that the government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033.
